What's Inside

The guide is built to meet you wherever you're starting from, so there are two ways in.

Individual herbs. Already know the plant you want? Every herb gets its own entry in a growing A–Z reference — look up ashwagandha, milk thistle, or reishi directly, whether or not you've ever read one of my protocols.

Herbs by condition. Working from a health goal instead? Every free protocol on my site has a matching sourcing page in the PDF. My protocols tell you which herbs to use, the corresponding page tells you exactly where to buy them and in what form.

For each of the 50+ herbs (and counting), you get:

The herb's scientific name. Common names are dangerously imprecise. "Ginseng" alone could mean Korean, American, or Siberian ginseng, so the scientific name is the only way to guarantee the herb on the label is the one you actually want.

What portion to use. The correct part of the plant (leaf, root, stem, berry, etc.) is what determines whether you get the bioactive compounds and effects you're after.

What form to use. Fresh herb, dried herb, standardized extract, tincture, oil infusion, or salve. The bioactive compounds in herbs are water, fat, or alcohol soluble so buying the wrong form means not getting them.

My vetted sources. The specific suppliers I trust for each herb, chosen from 31 years of sourcing, that have COAs to verify the species, are either ethically wildcrafted or organically grown, and ideally are harvested in the USA.

Why No Affiliate Links Changes Everything

Nearly every herbal sourcing recommendation you've ever read online was shaped by a commission. This isn't necessarily dishonest, but when the writer earns 15% on Brand A and nothing or 5% on Brand B, we know which one makes it on their list. This potentially makes them choose a version that isn't quite the best option.

I've built this Guide with no affiliate relationships, no paid placements, no free products, so my sources are not pigeon-holed and are the honest best options I know of and use.

You're getting the one thing the herbal industry can't manufacture: an uncompromised practitioner opinion based on my 31 years of vetting and using different suppliers.

Meet The Herbalist

My name is Tristan and my herbalism training began in 1995 when I was 15 through the expert guidance of my Grandmother who was a master herbalist.

She and other great teachers taught me what to look for in top-quality herbs, the main bioactive compounds each one carries, and which form to take it in so those compounds are actually present when you need them.

This Guide is a distillation of their wisdom, my own research and experimentation over the last 31 years, and everything I've learned coaching hundreds of clients.
